The idea with the Vauxhalls was to get them ticking over as slow as possible, they didn't spray much oil about anyway. Vauxhall used to supply a really long strip of steel the correct thickness when it got mangled you just cut the end off.

i had one of these, the old Firenza, it was a great motor with no rot, went round Scotland Devon everywhere it was gold with a vinyl roof, pretty rare nowadays i have not seen one for years, also had a black Cresta in the 70's that thing was mental hammeriong up and down the A15 and was great for getting loads of people in.

It's weird but then all my motors cost 90 quid even my first and second ss yamaha and suzuki stinger motorbikes were 90 quid, ford cortina mk1 £90, corsair x 2 £90, viva £90, cresta £90, escort mk2 £90, 70's eh, if i had them now i'd be loaded after floggin' em and they were all good nick with no rot

Lots of cars you could buy for £90 years ago would be worth fortunes now. Stuff you can buy for say a grand now will eventually be worth fortunes (if you live long enough).

yep, 'tis bonkers, my first tranny was a v4 2l mk1 ex- rounds van )groceries, etc.) with basically a box on the back with windows in it, it was red and black hand painted and i did a couple of years at Stonehenge free festivals etc. in it as a tripped out hippy, cost me 4 ounce of good leb, scored the van in the dole queue in Hackney, red and black were/are the colours of invisibility which is odd as blaCK like white AIN'T A COLOUR, i did lose it a few times though?????????????? these days i'm just an anarcho-syndicalist revolutionary though.
