Front hubs from Mk2 to Mk3 - is it possible?

Did anyone wondered is it possible use front hubs from Mk1/Mk2 (with disc brakes 1528609 73VB1104BB) for Mk3 (6141268 86VB1104AB)
My friend elspasoo want use Mercedes alloys in Mk3 with hubs from Mk2 - as it is featured in viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2903
