Rocker Gasket

Postby campercarbob » Sat Apr 02, 2016 8:26 pm

Does anyone know the best place to buy a rocker box gasket for 1982 Petrol Camper van (Looked but can`t find a good source) Fitted new Webber carb. Goes really well but always had a slight oil leak from rocker. Like to tidy things up. Also.. do I need to use lead additive to petrol for a vehicle this old? Cheers guys.

is it a 2.0 :?: someone like burton power might have them or buy classic ford magazine to see if theres a seller in there,, you only need an additive if the heads not been done for unleaded here  ebay item https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222059728575

I would think most motorfactors would have them, in fact if you are anywhere near Gatwick at any point I've got a spare you can have for a 2.0 Pinto, however there are 2 different types a thick and thin one not sure which I have

I got a Cork one from Burton power. Cheap and did the job. It's just started leaking again so I'm going to fit one of their rubber ones.

Always tighten down all the bolts round the base of the cover before you tighten the two at the front that go in sideways. I find that increases the longevity of the gasket, don't over tighten either

It's worth checking someone hasn't over tightened them in the past as it's really easy to bend the flanges....my cork one doesn't leak.
