I painted the van Matt NATO green 9 years ago as a temp measure after I put new panels in it.
Everyone said I should keep it so I did, now 9 years on its covered in moss and its peeling off everywhere. Apparently people pay good money for the same effect I got for 20 quids worth of paint and 9 years weathering

It's the heat of the welding that creates distortion, I try and combat it by doing very small tack welds in opposite corners, kinda like torquing up a cylinder head. Let it cool for a minute or two between 'sets' and linking up the tacks to create a complete weld eventually. As it happened, it started raining, I had had enough and the vans no show winner so I rushed it and it distorted.

Well guys, after finding a puddle on my dash this morning and throwing my toys out the pram a little, I went and spaffed a load of sealant under the lip, filled the fridge with cider and drove down to Abbey steam rally. Just got back from a road run, pretty merry and just whitnesses a fordson major with a 6 cylinder turbo ford cargo engine fly past me about 45mph...... Life is good again! :D

It's leaking again. This time from between the glass and the rubber! I can't win

I had problems with a new rubber and screen leaking on my taxi.Normal sealers didn't seem to work. I rubbed in black boot polish and pushed it in the gaps.
Its been dry ever since.

Thanks for the tip, I may well try that. It only leaked last night, not the night before, I'm wondering if it was just condensation collecting on the rubber, but there seemed to be quite a lot so I'm going to see if it does it without the insulation screen up, as that traps the condensation and makes it run

Yes I did that at home and it was fine, but when I'm in a lumpy field and the chassis twists a bit I'm wondering if that's when it leaks, of course I never think to check behind the screens when it's actually raining

ive always blamed body flexing for the start of leaks breaking the rubber sealant

I had always planned to try sticking the screen in a mk2 transit that I was building a few years back, then just stick the rubber on the outside for effect.
had 2 mk2's in the past with a sponge on the dash for mopping up the water before setting off
keep us posted

Back on shift now so progress will be slow I'm afraid. I will try and seal it up ASAP though and my original floor plans are suffering from the constant trickle of water :(
