Mk2 roof lining? Any ideas

Postby Retrohowla » Tue May 17, 2016 1:40 pm

Can anyone suggest a budget way of replacing the cab roof lining on a mk2? Doesn't have to look anywhere near original, just something to line the inside to tidy it up a little. Currently don't have one at all

Yeah I considered tgat but I have no inner skin to glue to. So it will be a bit kind of flappy at the point it jumps from inner skin to outter skin, does that make sense? Is there an inner skin moulding originally?

I stuck felt insulation on the roof first that takes out all the sharp contours, then van roof lining on to the felt.

line it with 3mm ply first, then felt/vinyl over top.

What about getting the headlining out of a later model and reusing/ modifying that, if push comes to shove all you really need is the support wires and you could make your own up if you have access to a sewing machine (one of the old hand ones would be handy as they are tougher)

Yeah that's the one thing I do have is support wires, I think the old dear might have a proper antique sewing machine also so will look into that
