Mk2 wiper relay

Postby Retrohowla » Tue Jun 07, 2016 5:28 pm

I can't seem to track down a wiper relay for my mk2. Has anyone fitted one from a different vehicle and retained the intermittent setting?

Wouldn't one off a mk3 transit work?

You have an intermitant setting? Was that a custom option?

I think intermittent was standard on mk2's from facelift onwards. I remember both my Dad's A Reg and C reg mk2 phase 2's both had intermittent wash wipe.

where is it located on the mk2? Mine has the intermittent adjuster control on the dash, but steering column stalks do not have the position for it, I think they have been replaced. Would be good to get it going again. Relay will be common to all Fords of that era, Sierra's, Escorts etc.

Under the dash right hand side clipped to inner wing.
As it turns out the relay that was on the mk3 is from a later vehicle so I imagine not much but the colour changed for a long time

your wiper stalk should have 3 positions down for intermittent ,, up once for normal and twice for fast unless its been swapped with a early stalk maybe :?: :?:

Just did a little research. My van does not have the wiring in the loom for the intermittent function. Someone has just fitted the rotary switch into the dash. Only the Custom had this option according to an old Ford brochure I have here.

I have nothing no 3rd position or rotary switch :( Still on the bright side it's one less thing to go wrong!
Mines a phase2 as well so I guess it was a paid option

here's a page from the brochure I had. According to this only the Custom model had the clock, and intermittent wipe function.
