mk 1 modernised

Postby blackbandit » Sun Aug 07, 2016 12:08 pm

Hi all, Ive recently got a mk1 v4 and Im looking to modernise it but keep all the good bits. So Im looking to put a newer (not to new) more powerful engine in to make it more practical for every day use, change the front and back axle and suspension. Ive already got the front subframe and suspension from a mk3 transit and am replaces some parts ready to fit.

So if any one has anything useful on this let me know, Im mainly looking for advice on what engine I can put in there that will fit with out cutting out a bulk head or putting the bull noise on the front.

A 2ltr pinto will squeeze in, luke has fitted a vw 1.9 tdi with a flat front.
I remember someone on here fitting a 1.7 tdi Isuzu from a cavalier.
I dont mind the v4 its just abit slow in the hills but so would a DI.

search on here ifs conversion theres loads done it and if your using a mk3 it's even easier :D iv'e done it twice now and its a really worth wile conversion

back axle wise i just change the axles i don't find it necessary to change the leaf springs or alter anything major

engine wise as has been said i've fitted a 1.9Tdi imo was the best option available - my mk1 will be at Transitmania 8 if you are going? you're welcome to look all over it :D
