i saw those 2 for 1500 and this while one, but as i want to cut them up so much i really am trying to find one under a grand, seeing as i only need the shell really, want an unfinished project, or something like that, there is that camper on ebay, but its still a bit high, the 2 for 1500 that where on ebay for ages i did try to get one, but i was out the country and my friend said he couldn't get hold of the guy, did put offers in on them, but did get accepted, i regularly look all over europe on a few site i know that have them, but at the moment, europe seems to be over run by lwb ex fire vans, i keep wondering if i should do a lwb, but i prefer to do a swb, and make it a tribute to supervan 1

It will be cheaper in the long run to pay a bit more and save on panels & labour to repair a rusty shell. They are asking 9000 euros now in Malta for a van that 12 months ago would have been 900 euros!

i will get a left hooker from across the channel if need be, i look on a few web site every night to see what about, missed a few, but will get one eventually, no great rush, got to get all the bits together before it happens, but if something comes up will will grab and start on body restoring first, was collecting axle tomorrow but its to far away and not enough time to go get it, so will look at getting one delivered to me.

yes engine still going in the back, but if i move it forward by about a foot, so it sort of sits under front seats, bit like the older flat front vans, and use a very very short prop shaft, i can use then use the mustang axle with its original diff, and won't have to be making up the hybrid transaxle, will save me a little time and money.

that will save you a bit of expense in that you won't have to fit heated seats :)

yes, i didn't really want to put it that far forward and i may still look at other options, i wanted to keep it as Ford as possible, there are a lot of strong transaxles out there, its working out which to choose, or to move the engine forward, this is why i really need a van, so i can do all the necessary measuring, and working out, if i used a LWB it would maybe still sit behind the seat, but i don't think a LWB would look right done, even though in the past i always preferred the LWB

for a project like this, which is going to cost a lot of money to build, I would personally find the best condition Mk1 van that I could afford, and build it on that. I think it is a false economy looking for something cheap, and then throwing a lot of money at repairing rust etc. It will speed up the build process a lot, and the end result will be all the better for it. Just my opinion of course ;)

100% agree, which is why i'm looking in europe, even though a left hooker will need changing to right hand drive, the steering will be changed anyway, so this isn't to much of an issue, problem is, swb vans seem to have dried up, everywhere, lwb vans are 2 a penny, but i can't think of how to convert a lwb to a short

look on the bright side, if you were looking for a split window Kombi you would be looking at 10x the price! Ironic that the vans that built Britain are a fraction of the price of der fuhrer wagen :) Although I suppose technically they were an Anglo-German collaboration!
