Postby andrericardo » Mon Apr 10, 2017 8:19 am

Hi guys

I really need help here...
I need to change the diff oil on my transit and after looking at it i have no idea how to do it, as there is no plug...
Also searched for tutorials , videos or any information online, and found nothing... :(

look for square socket filler plug on front of diff and remove and insert tube there, use the drive on a wrench to undo.

If you dont mind some spannering then remove prop and halfshafts and unbolt the diff, just loosen it and all the oil will come out

What do you use for a gasket on the rear diff, if you remove the cover?

I have seen them on the bay but not recently, you can make one out of heavy gasket paper using the cover as a template.

The manual for my '96 says to unbolt the cover and the oil comes out. Then I'd have to change the gasket, and get new screws, then just put the cover back on. They recommend not messing around with the differential itself, at all. I'm going to listen to them.

Not sure what yours looks like, though, but I'm only saying this because there's definitely no fill/drain valve on mine either.
