engine in a mk1

Postby truckdoctor » Sat Jun 03, 2017 5:22 pm

Just seen this going for auction and the description says it's a mk1 with an OHV engine. For some reason I thought the mk1 had the v4 and the mk2 had ovh. Is this correct please ?

Could have been fitted with just about anything by now, but some did get the crossflow engine as standard, we had a mk1 swb minibus with one.
No idea if there was any rhyme, reason or SVO code for it or if it was just down to Ford running out of V4s or having too many crossflows.

That's interesting, for some reason I thought the engine space was too short for an in-line 4 cylinder with out cutting the bulkhead.
Do you know if the mk 2 had a bigger space for the engine

The Kent crossflow is a much smaller unit than the pinto and fits no problem. Yes the Mk2 has a much bigger engine bay :)

When Ford put the Kent engine the mk1 the sales brochure said by fitting it that if you had a load of TVs to transport you wear able to carry 1 more tv due to the Kent being lighter
