Diff ratio (s)

Postby Johny89 » Sun May 06, 2018 7:18 am

So I searched the forum (and Google ) but couldn't find the answer anywhere
I have this tag on my diff from what can I see the ratio on it?
As most want is a "higher" top speed.
What I want is lower rpm at top. And because its a 5speed doing 60km/h in fourth for hills but having it too hard in fifth o thought if I gear up the rear end I can gain some in fourth.
Speedo is now by ten percent off so I don't worry about that.
The tag on the axle.

Your ratio is 4.4 to 1.

Looking at your outher post I don’t think you York engine has enough power to pull a higher diff ratio you maybe better lowering it so it will pull better in 5 th gear your zf box is 1to1 5 th gear the standard transit box are overdrive in 5 th was this a factory setup or has you or previous owner put a engine and box out of a A series

They come from an a series. Not original. Which made me think it is restricted to go faster (speedo is off but shows max 95)
I do have some sort of valve in the exhaust pipe aswell and it route first to the front before it goes backwards. ..

That may have been a exhaust brake very doubtful it’s had a speed limiter fitted look at the throttle cable if it goes from the pedal and straight to fuel pump and no other unit in between someone on the A series may be of more help as to what was fitted to them
