Valuation for a mk1 '72 full restoration

Postby kevin87 » Wed Feb 15, 2023 4:39 pm

Hi Everyone,
I am a new member and am reaching out to see if anyone can help me. Although owning my 1972 mk1 transit since 2011 iv not been on this forum yet as iv been nut and bolt restoring it for the last 5 years and she is nearly ready to see the world! My only problem at the moment is trying to get an agreed valuation on her and finding someone who can do the valuation. Is this anything that anyone has come across or knows how to do? I can send detailed pictures.
would love to hear from anyone as without this she will be sat in the garage!
thanks for your time
Kevin

It may be worth contacting Peter Lee, of the Transit van club, who almost certainly can be of help.

Thank you for the response. I will try Pete again. I did email him last week but I’ll give him a nudge.
Thanks

your insurance company will do that submit the form with what you think its worth and see if they agree , there is no book for these vans at the end of the day its what someone will pay

Absolutely Iv tried to tell the insurance company all this and what Iv spent, sent a selection of pictures and invoices of work done but they still want an independent review from a dealer or a club or a classic restoration company. They don’t have there own valuer and won’t allow me to value it on what Iv spent so catch 22 really. Iv got the form and Iv filled in all the details bar the valuation. Found a classic car restorer so will see what they say but most valuations are half of what Iv spent! So reluctant to go with that. Anyways thanks for the comments nice to hear from you all. X

yes these vans are not like classic cars where theres an average sale price , one van sold recently for 61 k and theres another on ebay at 35k cant sell it both as good you can ask transit van club but he will value it high because he has a pristine one also,,,, there is no official price scale just insure it for as much as you can thats all you can do
