OK, this is the unabridged story.
The original 2.4 York engine was replaced with this 2.5di engine. While renovating the van last year, and turning her over regularly, I noticed that if I revved it hard (stationary) sometimes after taking my boot off, it would stop.
Last November, I took it to a garage, who said they would investigate the problem. They found a cracked plastic fuel pipe, within a connector.
I got rather angry after Christmas, and further work was done (headlight alignment, etc).
Later, they said it wouldn`t start. By now I was fuming. They tried jump-starting, tow and bump, all to no avail.
I said, "I`ll get the bloody thing started". Bought a new battery, put some fuel in it, and with the help of a mechanic (he filled the filter compartment with diesel and primed it), it started.
Yippee I thought!
They said they would take it out for a test run. Intermittant engine failure, especially on hills. It`s the same as running out of fuel, no problem re-starting the engine, but occasionally needed priming.
That`s when this latest fiasco began.
