Just got a mk2 ambulance! mpg and windscreen rust questions.

I know this is an old thread but i've got the same rust issues. Not sure if im going to go to a professional Welder of use a lot of liquid rubber paste. Just wondering how this adventure here ended. Or Maybe there are others with this problem who have any advice or pictures of how they fixed their van. Just bought the van, lwb red cross mk2 1981, so im an xtreme newby to the oldtimer world, but have some handy friends.
