v4 fuel pumps query

Picture shows 2 pumps, one is from my V4 which runs fine and allways has, the other is from a SWB 76 which I've just done some work on, runs fine on test and then all of a sudden runs as though fuel starvation, slowly dying witha repreive if you pull the choke out! and sure enough no fuel in float bowl and no signs of fuel in the inline filter I've fitted, problem is once running again fuel pumps normally and a way it goes no problem at all.

Bypassed the pump with the hand one so i could run the engine to test. Get nice vacuum readings on the input side of the pump and nice presure out the exit and the hand primer pulled fuel up from the tank no probs.
I've fitted a spare pump same as mine and it seems to work fine but then it worked fine on test with the orig all last week so I may have to drive a very long way to know if its working normally

Question is which is correct pump and are there known varients? and if theres a wrong one whats it off?

And ive deliberately not told you which one is from the intermitent runner!!

Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? is there a variation with a 1700 perhaps having a different arm to a 2000? can't think why but stranger things have happened!

The only difference I can see is one will pump when the cam lobe is at the top of it rotation, the other, when its about 70 degrees through its rotation. I've seen Anglia pumps with similar variations. Doesn't seem to make any difference to running.

this is strange as i have been and looked at a few pumps today at sixwheelphills and they are like the one on the right
but the left one as kev says is the correct one so i wonder what the right type is for :? :?

Well at least you all agree with what I'm expecting! the one on the left is from my van and the spare one is like that too, the one on the right weas the one fitted, maybe a crossflow? either way both work intermitently, but this morning it refused to pump up with the LH one - weird! maybe the cam lobe is shot and sometimes it all lines up and not others?

will just fit an electric in the morning!
