putting the pinto engine in is the best for the mk1 transit but there are seveal ways to do it use the bull nose bonnet and grill
or make your own mounting brackets up for the engine mounts which means engine sit a little backwards and your need to shorten prop and your need the gearbox that gose with the pinto engine
i did the latter one with a pinto engine about 15 yrs ago and it great
i used the serria carb and manifold it gave great fuel ecom around 30 at that time the webber carb is great for quick ness but sucks the fuel like no tomorrow

I would put another vote in for the pinto. BUT good luck with the DVLA when you want to change the log book. It seem very much a lottery. Some people just send off the log book, and get it back amended. Others have to jump through hoops. Make sure you have a receipt for the engine, clearly showing the number and correct CC (not just 2L for the pinto). Then get a receipt for the fitting. Failing that, you may have to get an engineer/RAC/AA report. It all depends on what the DVLA ask for.

no its easyer an over drive box has a different prop to a none over drive box so if you change complete engine with gearbox the prop should be ok (but check) if it looks like the same fitting? also because yours is diesel the bellhousing on you gearbox wont match up to a petrol engine so like i said its best to buy the engine and box complete from a mk2 and then you might get the exhaust and manifold, engine mounts, throttle cable, heater hoses, radiator, because if you gota try and find all the bits of off lots of different vans its aload of hassle so if you find some one thats breaking a complete van you get all the bits you need and also you can hear it running, not good buying an engine sitting on the floor because it might not be any good

Hi

I have a choice of 2 v6's if your interested?

1 is a 3.0 thats done 250miles since a complete recon, the other is a 2.5 that starts runs and drives good but has an oil leak.

also have a good auto box with all the bits to convert your mk1 to auto and a spare 4 speed manual box as well.
