Turbo bottom end swap help needed

Postby shaun10077 » Sat May 11, 2013 8:26 pm

Hi there the bottom end went on my 2.5 turbo recovery truck on monday whilst going down the motorway apparently the cause of this was the radiator had gone causing the bottom end to go.

So i'm just wondering if a normal 2.5 di bottom end would fit with all the turbo top end fitted are the compressions any different ? i have chance of a di engine bottom end straight away and need the truck back on the road asap so any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Bottom end will be fine - but if you still have the lucas EPIC injection pump you will need to swap the carriers for the timing pin/crank sensor over and probably the camshaft.

The N/A compression is higher and some of that is due to piston shape, however the turbo heads have a "dish" in them which accounts for the majority of the compression difference.

If you are running a mechanical bosch pump, don't bother swapping any of the bits I have mentioned over ;)
