pump ???

Postby scottie » Fri Apr 26, 2013 7:56 pm

a couple of times in the last few weeks ive felt the power drop on my P reg van

tonight it will now hardly move when you put your foot right down, i changed the fuel filter last week as this was the problem with my other van

while under the bonnet i can sometimes here a whirring noise from the pump, not all the time though, i drove it a few miles just now and it was great untill halfway back then its back to no power and lumpy tickover i know its hard but does this sound like the pump? :?:

done a quick search there and found a diagram but not quite sure whats going on,

looks like the pipe that goes to no4 gets rerouted to no1 and vice versa, also read you can use brake pipe to do this?

is this correct ?

You can get new pipe on ebay and the pipe is on no4 you move to no1 and the cap from no1 fits no4

ok tried the leak off mod with no difference

had the van barley ticking over and cracked the injector pipes one at a time, looks like i got some air from the front one, eventually the van sounded ok

took it for a drive about 3 miles later its back to 20 mph max then died and now wont even start

just waiting for a mate to come and get me to tow it back :?

High pitched whirring noise is usually the pump not getting supplied with enough fuel.

Was thinking the same, I'd been having the same trouble with power loss recently as is common with my badly filtered veg. I changed the filter and it didn't improve, it got worse the other day so I was forced to look under the bonnet again, turned out I hadn't done up the fuel filter quite right. Schoolboy error, not the first time I've done it and won't be the last if I keep doing filter changes in the dark
