Re bouncy ride and shaking steering

Hi hoping you can help i have a mk5 recovery chassis cab on a V reg and not long bought it, it has quite a heavy rear bed and 3 leaf leafsprings on the rear, coils on the front.
Is there anything common to cause this on these vans, it has just passed its class 7 mot and was like this when it went for it.
I do feel that 1 of the shocks isn't up to scratch so will be looking at these when i jacked it up before mot i felt there was slight play front to back rocking the wheels so thought it would fail on track rods or something, but the examiner said it was all fine? and he did go over it with a fine tooth comb i watched! ( did fail on a plate it needed welding though that i had missed!)
