Going for Scrap

Postby TakeZor » Mon May 20, 2013 2:40 pm

Have just had the garage on as have been having troubles with my van, S reg Lwb Hi Top Banana engine. Well it does now appear that it is going to have to be scrapped the crank is to badly worn to be ground down and would not be able to get big enough bearings and shells for it. And the cost of new and also a new oil pump is far to much. If anyone wants to give me a decent price for it they can have it as it has got decent fuel pump on it the head has been tested and is fine it has 4 good injectors plus there is the gear box, rear axle, starter motor and I am sure many other decent bits that could be salvaged by a transit enthusiast. I live in Lincoln, Lincolnshire so if anyone is interested give me a shout.

This engine that is in is one I bought last year and had fitted so to do the same again and run into the same problems is something I don't want again, and yes I can buy another engine for £150 but garages around my way want near £600  to take out and replace so economically for me it isn't viable.

Yes, have managed to keep it from the scrap yard and is running OK now with replacement engine just hope this one last longer than the previous one that had been fitted I didnt even get 10'000 miles out of that before the crank was knackered and it apparently had only 127'000 on it before I had it fitted last year. Guess thats the gamble with second hand engines.
