Mk5 axle

Postby powercrazymark » Fri Dec 15, 2017 11:29 pm

Can anyone tell me the different types of axle fitted to a mk5 and how to tell the difference. Been looking but can't seem to find definitive answers.
Thanks in advance

they are pretty much all the square tube type - most are the 4.56:1 ratio and if your lucky a 4.11:1 the way to tell is either read the tag on the diff bolts or if thats rusted away or missing you have to count the turns :)

I believe it's a Timken 34 if the diff casing flange is circular and loads from the front.
