REMOVE starter motor/solenoid >>sourcing..BEST BRANDS

Postby 97transit2.5D » Thu Feb 15, 2018 1:56 am

Hi almost certain the the solenoid is either worn or the positive strap to solenoid connector is faulty.....looking at removing the said unit.

Question 1: those mounting nuts for the WHOLE starter ...how do you remove them..do you go under the van. I have a 1/2" kokIen rachet with extensions and do you use a extra length of torque bar over handle of rachet?
and how do you work...??? above engine OR UNDERNEATH?

Question 2: replacing the solenoid is easy as...are there best brand anyone can recommend...on EBAY.UK???? as well as BEST starter motor..will replace solenoid first

any posts for removing the starter???....can you put in a link...cheers and beers...Rick

PS vehicle is a 1997 ford transit smile 190 76hp 2.5 non turbo....in NEW ZEALAND

First you need to disconnect the solenoid connection lead, then the power cable of the starter motor from the solenoid, then unscrew the three bolts securing the starter to the engine and take the starter out from under the bonnet.
