enigne light on

Postby NVASFT » Tue Mar 09, 2010 6:45 am

Hi all from aus first post on here from me and have found the site to be very good with info, what my problem is i have a 1999 2.5 turbo transit that i have replaced the timming belt on now easy job pin it all in place and replace but now when i was road testing it the check engine light come on only when warmed up to operting temp, read the codes and got P1178 injection pump position sensor, now i have pulled it down again and recheckedthe marks are spot on, so now have tested all the sensors on the pump all with in specs, from what i have read on here a lot of people ajust the pump timming to gain power, has anyone on here had the same problem after replacing the belt with the engine light on?????, now there is no power loss or extra smoke out the back all help will be great thank you LEE

Now it's run for a bit, recheck the timing  what type of tensioner are you using on the belt :?:

And double check the pin sizes, also check the crank pin goes right through, there are a couple of timing dimples before and after TDC

Try this :!: Take off the beyonet fitting multiplug to the pump, check for water and or corrosion. give a good going over with a fine copper wire brush, then spray liberaly with proper electrical contact cleaner (not just wd40) leave to dry and re-connect.
