Heater blower wiring and resistor

Postby JamesB » Tue Jun 19, 2012 8:34 pm

I know there is lot on here cover this subject but I can't find what I need, I have searched.

My blower doesn't work on any speed, it hasn't since I bought the van.
I had a look today and to help me out someone has already been in there

Has anyone got a wiring diagram so I can make sense of it all, and make sure the wires go to the right places?
Or can anyone tell me if this is right and what to check?

Radio and other stuff out of the way.

The white and purple wire to the resistor has ign power.
Someone has joined this to the white and black wire where it gets it's power, and the black and orange wire that goes to the fan speed switch.

Can anyone make sense of this and tell me what to look at first please?

I've done a search but not found anything useful  (joking)

Is it the 2 pin plug that powers the fan?

The way it's wired now the purple and orange is ignition live from the fuse.
The white and black is a live from the switch and resistor (joined together), this means it has 2 lives, where is the earth?

The way I see it, the motor will never work with 2 lives :?
