so I thought id bring this thread back from the dead, as im giving my mk3 some much needed tlc, im gonna try to get some vented brakes on the front. not going big diameter, just need better brakes behind 14" rims. got a pair of mk5 discs and calipers, but the calipers wont bolt on the mk3 stub assembly unless a bracket can be made
has anyone else managed it ?
cheers.

Just use Mk5 stub axles and hubs  (you will need to use Mk5 ball joints and trackrod ends as well) and if you're using Mk3 front shocks you will need to slightly elongate the top two fixing holes (only takes ten mins with a file)

yea I had thought about doin it that way, not sure if it will widen the front track though as the arches on mk4/5 has a bigger flare to it.
ok if your using standard wheels, but no good if you have 6j wellers, will need to do more research
watch this space.

gonna have a go at this upgrade, got a set of vented discs but will be fitting them to my redrilled hubs that have been turned down, 5x100 pcd so had the excess trimmed off, will use mk5 calipers, will need to make a bracket as the caliper wont bolt onto a mk3 stub axle, pics to follow :)

if your using mk5 disks could you use the 6 stud ones? they are larger diameter but use the same caliper (just different carrier) i have them on mine but i have 16" wheels but i think they will fit under 15"s
