fuel pump gasketts

Postby 7waverley » Mon May 13, 2013 5:21 pm

Hi There, could anyone help with a problem that happened on sun 12 5 13. I started my 96 transit swb 2.4 di and found It a bit low on power , however after a couple of mins driving it seemed to get better, but when accelerating or going up hill the power wasn't there. It eventually stalled and woudnt restart. I have checked the fuel pump and that is fine however when I make a seal over one of the injectors the fuel comes out of the lower part of the pump (the square bit with 4 star studs) I am wondering if a gasket has perished hence air getting in ,the van cranks fine but wont fire ,cheers in advance simon.

the gasket on the pump is probably knackered and letting air in... I dont think that gasket is a DIY repair so you would be best off finding another injection pump and fitting it.

I have a pump for a 96 70PS if you get stuck, but im not sure when I am going to get to it... its in my workshop 60 miles away and my car is knackered
