Benefits of fitting turbo

Are there good benifits to fitting a stock turbo to a non DI and do the injectors need changing ?

Hi, The benefit is great. I have done it to two engines and are just about to do it to a third. I have not changed the injectors and have turned up the fuel about 3/4 of a turn. You get more torque and the engine does not run out of go in the higher rev band.

Definitely recommended.

I'm told that changing the injectors for turbo ones is better , but have not got that far myself yet.

Well got the inlet and outlet plus turbo off today at scrappy , £40 seemed good to me . Just need to go pickup the sump and down pipe tomorrow morning

Hi, Save yourself a load of agro. Just weld a 20mm hydraulic fitting to your existing sump!

Use the turbo and down pipe to position it.

Yeh gave up trying to get it off so will fit something to the sump . I have yet to look but is there a oil feed in the same location under the manifold on a non turbo ?

I would have removed the engine as one complete unit then strip it off at your own pleasure.

Hi, There is a oil feed on non turbo engines after 1992, if you can get the plug out!

Cheers , will take the exhaust of and have a look , if not I assume I will have to tee off the alternator ?

Hi, Its only a small tapping and I don't know just how much the alternator uses, it may not be able to feed both. I have always teed off the oil pressure switch as that does not use any oil !

Yeah there is a plug on the oil gallery under the exhaust manifold for the turbo. They are bleeding tight, sometimes they come out, sometimes they need "persuasion" - I normally weld something to the plug and use that to get the plug out...

People have successfully Tee'd of the alternator feed.

Turbo injectors do make a big difference

Well had a go at getting the oils feeds unplugged , got the smaller one out ok but the larger one I admit I may of beat a little hard , whats the lowest one for ? does anyone know the 2 threads sizes used as I need to order a new feed pipe
