Engine Code Location?

Postby Lsecouriers » Thu Dec 19, 2013 10:06 am

After a right nightmare with my 2.5 di turbo not starting ive just bought a whole new ex rac engine from eBay in good running order, going to have a mechanic drop it in tomorrow but before hand i want to get a service kit cambelt etc, obviously its not the exact same engine that was in mine so does anyone know if i can find the engine code out if so where too

cheers

Behind the power steering pump.

But it won't run right without the correct lucas pump - will be on limp home mode. You need to make sure the DSA **** number on the pumps match - or put the old one on.

A service is easy to do once it's installed. I'd get the engine installed and running before pulling it (an unknown engine) to pieces.

You don't say if it's a turbo or an N/A Di? Epic or Bosch pump?

So they are both Lucas, and for it to work correctly you need to a) make sure the DSA**** numbers are the same, and if not swap injection pumps and injectors.

Right my pump in my van is DSA1191

Where the other engine with all injectors etc and pump is DSA1190

How can we make this work, with a bit of looking about i see the DSA1190 is running 100PS, where my current sezied engine pump is only running 85.

if like the 100PS to be fair as carry alot of weight and need some power.

if anyone can advise me would be great

I think you may have your pump and outputs back to front

Simply fit your old pump to the "new" engine :!:

injectors too?

The new engine has the 100PS bump where my current engine that is seized has the 85PS pump.

i want to run 100Ps so what else would i need just the ecu from the other vehicle?

regards

If the "new" engine is the 100PS, (and you'd like a proper 100PS in your van) you'll need to also transfer the ECU, PATS module and the chip from the "new" engine/van's key into your existing key

Easy way is just swap your pump on to the new lump. Only issue I can think of is the ECU might get the hump if it's not happy with the other injectors - in which case swap them over.
