Very Slow EPIC

Postby MinorMatt » Sat Sep 27, 2014 4:42 pm

And no... its not in limp mode

My "100PS" van is very slow. 0-30 takes about 10 seconds!

There are no fault codes (with the laser 2000)
New Fuel Fliter
New Air Filter
New (Pattern) injectors (made no difference over the old ones)
Nothing binding or getting hot
No (obvious) black smoke
Boosts to about 1 bar
No obvious obstructions on the air inlet

Any thoughts?

Is the pump being told to deliver enough fuel? I've no idea how you'd tell.

I don't know much about the epic system but is there plenty of fuel being returned from the injectors or are they using all they can get?

Lift pump maybe? could be causing a slight blockage.

Possibly

It will do 80+ but takes forever getting there. Junctions can be a bit iffy...

I would actually like to keep it as an EPIC If possible, and use it as a test bed to check things out

Consider the wind resistance being a Hi-Top and the weight before you call it slow

wind resistance doesn't make much difference below 30mph...

Its slower than my other LWB van (which weighed more due to a box section steel frame the seats mounted too....) when it still had a bananna engine.

I see you have 1 bar at the manifold so I'm guessing you don't have any intake leaks but those symptoms sound identical to mine when I had a intake leak. Really sluggish up to 30mph then OK once the van had some momentum behind it.

The MAP sensor appears to read lower than the gauge, so looking out for another sensor

Yes, hours, days, weeks and months of a self inflicted, miserable life of expensive, hand wringing anguish and torment, if you want to put an end to all that needless nonesense, you know what to do.
