Advice please guys...just done the Epic to Bosch conversion using a 0460 414 153 624-7 Pump... All fitted and wired an ignition fed live to the Stop-Valve and a trigger wire for the Starter... Timed it all up with pins and it wont start . only way it will run is if i squirt a little Brake n Clutch cleaner up the inlet pipe. How long does it take to get the Diesel through and if i get a current draw am i right in assuming that the stop solenoid is working ok ? Also just to put my mind at ease is the front Banjo pipe defo the Fuel Supply pipe and not the return ?? Also ive fitted an EGR Valve Blanking Pipe,,, If the fuel supply pipes are right and the stop solenoid is working could it just be trapped air ? or maybe the pump needs advancing a bit more ? Ive tried all the degrees that the pulley will allow.. All and ANY help gratefully received as its my Recovery Truck and all the time its out of action im not earning .. 01256 411517 07815 114062 and ill call you straight back or natalie.hance@ntlworld.com thanks..

Hi, cant crack them off, they are so seized on the injectors that they feel like they might actually break if i lean on them that little bit more... Can i put some heat on the Injector pipe nuts or will that damage anything inside the injector ?

I wouldn't put any heat on them, have you altered the fuel screw on the pump ?

You won't get anywhere unless you bleed the injectors. You need a long 17mm spanner so you can apply sustained pressure until the nut cracks. Don't snatch at it. You could try a hot air gun but not a flame.

Has anyone actually snapped an injector?

Ive been told that there is a 14mm flat on the injector so i can support it while i undo the 17mm nut....think ill use the heatgun (good shout) and then support it and have another bash...cheers...

Thanks for the advice guys...Just about managed to get no 2 3 and 4 injectors undone and squirted a bit of Clutch n Brake cleaner up the inlet and after 4 attempts it started...Smoked really badly though and advanced the Pump Timing and now no smoke , pulls like a train now and wish id done this conversion bloody years ago... TBH my epic pump has been good since i swapped in an LDV one about 4 years ago... Couple of questions though, Will the economy be worse or better than the Epic pump and can i advance the pump timing too much ? I dont want to run the risk of melting a piston etc....

Thanks in advance....

You will go deaf before the timing is advanced that far it does much damage....if it sounds really sharp and like somebody dumped a bag if loose ball bearings into the motor just retard it slightly.

Aye, it will also get hard to start when you begin to get too far advanced.

Some pumps are more prone to this than others due to differing fueling and advance curves.

Hey,
I am in the process of doing this conversion and I'm having an extremely difficult time finding a mechanical accelerator. I'm in Australia and these vans are quite rare here so the chances of finding one running a mechanical pump are very slim. I'm not having any luck with online either.
If anyone has any leads on where I could look, that would be very appreciated!
