Put my 1990 mk3 through it's MOT. Passed without any advisories for the second year running, happy days.

Cut new panels for my van out of 3.5mm ply to replace the crappy cardboard that came from the factory. Fabric covered one of them, the small one. Big one to do tomorrow. It's cut, but not covered. Rain stopped play...

Then, figure out how to attach them (self tappers, probably).

I got all the panels fully attached. But one of them has a gap :( Well, too late now to fix that, I'll just have to seal it somehow .... :D

Generally getting the camper ready for its first long trip since getting it. 300 miles to the camp site !
Furthest we've been so far is about 60 miles lol.

Wired my secondary push fan up.
Checked all fluids etc.
Made some front window vents for night time to stop moisture filling the van.

Also bolted my tailgate back together as the whole bottom edge was pulling apart from dodgy repairs. Has had another skin slapped over the top of the original rotten one and a load of filler all over it.
Now have 4 10mm bolts through it pulling all the bits together ! Lol

Technically it was yesterday, but ...

Ran out of diesel and found out how inaccurate the Mondeo clocks are (answer: Completely). Also found out what a pain in the arse running out of fuel was, and found out the hard way that the fuel filter's keyed in the middle part and if you don't get that key in the right place it can't tighten on and pishes diesel ALL over the road. And yes, I had to make TWO trips to the petrol station (not too far away, thank goodness...) because I'd chucked all of my 5 litres in not knowing that you needed to fill the fuel filter ...

Thankfully I was paranoid enough to check the filler fitment before driving off :P I think I only spilt about a litre of diesel on the road.

Then once I got back home, I bought lino and put lino in the back. Sounds simple but of course everything had to come out to do that (not so simple :D). Looks mint now :D

We used to have a van with no fuel gauge, used to fill up every 200 miles for about 3 yrs, no probs. Still, if the tacho works.....?

My father in law done the same last week, filter wasn't on right a sprayed diesel all over the place ! Lol
Ive never bothered pre filling the diesel filters on any vehicle, including my transit last week, just cranked it over for about 15 seconds and then it fired up, after about 10 seconds being lumpy it was running nice and smooth and has been fine ever since.

Would be nice if anyone had any idea about my problem. Posted up a thread but no answers.

I guess I'll have to tap the signal wire and research it myself ...

And today I've done nothing, because I'm too knackered in between working on the van every evening and getting up at the crack of dawn ... :(

I have four days off to finish it to a state where I can cook and sleep in it... Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday ... to be honest the cooking bit's optional as is the water ;)

Had the AA out to it twice today to try and find the source of an enormous drumming noise in back of van.

Turned out to be a loose windscreen seal tapping on the roof (at speeds above 40 it sounded like I was about to take off!).

Took W reg van for MOT, just a small patch underneath and a very expensive hole inside the rear spring front hanger, o/s. Let the garage do that, made sure to get the MOT cert.

Preparing the V reg van for MOT, treated it to a new set of discs and pads and patched a couple of small holes in very difficult places. Also repaired the n/s back door using a repair panel. Made the joint behind the number plate and round the bottom hinge, less holes to make. Good coat of primer filler and it matches the rest of the dull paint.
