I replaced an old Weber 32/36 DGAV with a brand new 32/36 DGV on a 1994 2.0 L Pinto engine sitting in a 1988 Mk3 camper.

I have been struggling with the engine for two years now. First, I thought the ignition was to blame. After replacing all ignition parts with no improvement, attention went to the carburetor. A video by Mike Pierce (Pierce Manifolds, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A44-xG3pKlY) gave me the idea that the problem might be worn throttle shafts (see the video at 15:25 to 16:20). My Weber 32/36 DGAV did indeed show signs of air leakage along the primary throttle shaft (photo). Clean metal is sign of air leak (see arrow).

And yay, with the new carb, the engine ran like a charm.

Removed front bumper and wheel centre caps and sprayed them with Halfords dark grey plastic bumper spray paint. Very happy with the results.

removed bonnet catch assembly and cleaned and oiled it, but the problem seems to be the cable so I'd better get one.

Loosened the exhaust downpipe, repositioned it and re-tightened to fix a slight blow, and then tidied the underbonnet wiring, removing excess extension wires and scotchlocks  and re-routing wires away from steering and taping up tidily.
