Used the van today and..............
clutch nice and light as compared to the old one.
no leaks evident in the bellhousing/under the van
on the down side
resealed the diff inspection plate.(it's been weeping for ages)
took the plate off and
stuck my gloved hand in to scoop as much of the old smelly oil out and came
across this.(not the £2 coin)

chunk off the pinion
bearing had a bit (a lot) of play so I adjusted it and took it out for a test run.
No vibration or clunking.
could it have been like this for the 2 years i've had the van?
next question......
Are the pinion and crown wheel machined as a pair?
or
can i just buy a pinion to match the diff ratio?
and............
how to set pre load at home
on a plus it's not neds Tdci
