Rust, glorious rust!...yus, took the W reg van for MOT. Failed on corrosion in all the awkward places, inner wings, shocker turrets, spring mountings, rear crossmenber, etc, etc, etc.

That's a lot of welding lying down so..... Has anyone tried using a spit type contrivance to make it easier to get at the underside without lying down. There's few on Ebay, just wondering if they'll take the weight, 1800kgs or whether you need to remove the engine? Anyone???

Work from a pit or overpass.
...................
I increased by one turn the screw of the cyclic feed on my TNVD Bosch VE of type 154 with a turbocharger.
Noticeably increased power at low speed, there is no smoke in all modes.

Yesterday I filled up a full tank and counted the fuel consumption.
92 liters per 1220 km.
7.54 liters / 100 km or 37.46 miles per gallon (GB), or 32.1 miles per gallon (US) (?)
In the UK and the US, different miles or different gallons?

I looked at the calculators of magnitudes, the English gallon is much larger than the American one, by about 15 ... 20%.
Miles are about the same.

I began to collect another engine based on a bore of +65 mm cylinder block and polished -0.25 mm crankshaft.
I'm planning a turbo engine, but with atmospheric pistons.
He installed a camshaft, crankshaft and one piston.
I have a problem: there is no oil dipstick tube.
I think to make a probe tube from a copper 1/2 "pipe.
I have such a pipe.

Welded the last hole in the windscreen pillar. Just some tidying up to do then it's a new windscreen!! Yay!

Finally I made a tube for the oil dipstick.
Copper tube 1/2 "and a stamped copper transition from diameter to diameter was brazed by copper-phosphorus solder.

Two new batteries :( BOGOF at Euro car parts :D
Passenger side held down by a webbing strap but a little tug and the end behind the battery came out with a ball of rust on the end. Life is never simple.

Alternator couldn't make it's mind up today on the van.
Volt meter in cab showing 14v then down to 12v :(
Dash light never came on :?
Tested when I got home and voltage direct from the alternator was not good :(
Alternator off to get the part number and it's 1 of those where the replaceable stuff is burried inside :(
Then I noticed a pool of fluid under the van.
Looks like rear brake cylinder has joined the party to make my day worse.
