Used my camper as a removal van yesterday ! Moved everything in 5 trips, would have been 3 if i could be bothered to slide the bongo seats off there runners and out the back lol

Also Saturday and Sunday I welded up my father in laws new mk5 for it's MOT .
"solid and never been welded" said the guy he bought it from !
Wasn't solid, although it hadn't been welded . . . . . instead the front arch/inner and outer sill/step on the drivers side was fibreglass and filler ! Lmao. All replaced with new panels now though.

I'm loving the neat plastic cap on the end of your crank pulley. Must keep the bolt from going so rusty. :)

Just been having a look at the heater controls (now winter is over  ) to see if I can make it switch between floor/dash/windscreen a bit easier = Failed and gave up on that, it works enough... In the process found a spare ignition key and somehow made the interior light work.

double bonus :D

Went to Smith and Allen for some diff oil.(seal/gasket has a slight weep)
They didn't have
EP90 GL-5
EP 85w 90 GL-5

apparantly their 80w-90 Gl-5 will do the job.

Bought a couple of litres (1.7 l needed) and............

It started pissing down

The oils been in there for upto 18 years so another day or so isn't going to hurt (famous last words)

New windscreen and more importantly, the metalwork around it welded and made good so the screen won't fall out!

Old battery tray removed, what was left of it. The middle had rusted out completely.

"New" battery tray wire brushed down and painted with Smoothrite. No point putting a rusty tray in to replace a disintegrated one without giving it a paint first...

Decided to also repaint the arch, inside the engine bay. Not going to be a cosmetically perfect job, just designed to slow the rot. Loads of beige Hammerite rust primer so far. Some Engine Blue from Halfrauds on top of it tomorrow. Found out in the process the wheel arch has been patch repaired in the past. Hmm. Well, the metal still seems fairly sound ...

May post up some pics tomorrow :)

Well, it still hasn't happened, but it's getting there. Paint takes SO long to dry! At least it's light after work now, and I can get stuff done when I get home ... A situation which will get even better when the clocks change :)

The old battery tray. It was pretty far gone ...

The "new" one. By the way, are there supposed to be bolts going through the holes in the bottom or are they just for drainage? It is hard to tell with mine because the arch has been patch repaired in the past ... so if there were nuts in there, there aren't now.

And what I'm waiting on now ... Paint drying :/

Water mist decoke. Has it done any good? Well it seems a bit smoother, accelerates a bit faster, but I dunno for sure.

It sounds quieter, maybe, but that could be a side effect of being deafened by the engine noise and intake roar during the water mist decoking ;)

New aerial fitted.

Some other minor fitting of parts including a gear knob. Some diagnostics with the wiring diagram. Turned it around, and found more problems than I solved!
