Tie rod left- or right-hand thread?

Postby axxez » Mon Oct 31, 2016 9:24 am

Hi there,

Does anyone know if the tie rods of my 1990 100L Transit (leafsprings axle in front, powersteering) are left or righthand thread? Or do I need one of each?

Thanks!

My excuses to hack the tread: does anybody know the answer to the same question for a 1992 MK4 100L?

Cheers, Kai

You're welcome :) I hope that anyone knows about that.. I guess it's something you repair and forget about again.

According to the book and assuming you're talking about the ball joints, the left hand ball joint unscrews clockwise, so they appear to be handed.

Thanks for the info. For the 1992 MK4 100L both sides were indeed right handed.

Ciao. Kai
