Try turning the fueling up on the pump first if it's a bosch and hasn't already been done :D
You might be pleasantly supprised and it costs nothing.

Save yourself a lot of work, just fit the manifolds from the turbo engine to your non turbo engine and then turn the fuel up. No need to swap the sump for the oil return just get a m20 hydraulic fitting and weld it to the sump and then drill through.

When you say turn the fuel up, you mean on the high speed fuel screw which needs the locking tab removing to turn it up, or the 'smoke screw' on the top of the pump?

Both :D

1's mid range and the other is top end.

Rear 'max' adjustment is overall pump spill timing i.e. delivers more fuel all the time, hence needing to adjust idle when increasing this one.

Top 'torque' adjustment is for on demand, it governs the differential pressure between governor and spill off, delivering more fuel if you ask for more power/torque. i.e. only supplies more fuel when the governor isn't the deciding factor during cruise.

Throw the EGR system in the bin also.
I have been playing with advancing the timing as i read on here that they like to be a bit advanced over standard but so far it don't seem to make much difference either way.
I turned up the top screw until it smoked then backed it off until it stopped but not tried the main fuel screw yet. Will try that next.

Hi, Here is the picture you wanted. The screw I am pointing to is usually covered by a steel guard and then the pats module on later vans. As you can see on this pump from the shiney metal at the top of the bracket, the top half has been cut off!

Image

Its quite safe to unscrew it , you might lose an egg cup full of fuel at the most. Then you need to grind out the two spot welds holding the stainless steel band that stops you screwing it in further.

Image

Refit it to the pump and you can then start to increase the fuel!

The anti tamper collar on mine was only crimped not spotwelded - possible it was a recon pump? though only injectors shown in the BT service history.

Nice pics, thank you! Can you also tell where to adjust the idle, as it is increasing on mine when adjusting the max-fuel.

If you look at the pictures, above the screw I am indicating is another screw with a plastic collar at its base, this is the maximum speed stop. The idle adjustment is in the same place on the other side of the pump.
