Don't know if it's still the case,but used to work in body shop,when we had paint mixed up it used to be to a no.(i.e. RAL5010),but certain manufactures/makes would then have different variants of same colour,which unless you took a fuel flap etc of vehicle to match,sods law meant that if you didn't bother with variant match you'd end up with diamonds white vans,not diamond whites ones.

In Halfrauds they sell RAL 5010 as 'Engine Blue'.

Perhaps they felt 'Gentian' was a bit too hard for some of their staff to pronounce ... :D

:lol: I saw 30 odd codes for Ford Dark Blue in Halfords, turned around and went home. :roll:

The German for it is 'Enzianblau' so maybe some fool thought that meant 'Engine' ... :)
