MK4 - wants to cut out if not rev'ing?

Postby Transit-Rich » Sat Apr 08, 2017 8:36 pm

Hi all,

My mk4 was stood for many years and altough starts fine, when driving it wants to cut out/stall unless I give it more revs or press clutch. Any idea of things to check before taking to garage? At the least, just to give me an idea?

Thanks

If fitted, check the butterfly isn't closing too much. Shorten the rod if needed.

I'll clean up the butterfly and order another fuel filter (had a quick look, there is a sensor cable attached to base body of filter housing - it must just be the metal 'can' bit I replace?)

Thanks,

Fuel filter seems to have fixed it :) along with the cleaning of the butterfly it's much smoother now.

Might give the EGR a cleaniup and blank next :)
