I've been battling with the "random" and now "full time" problem of not starting. The starter solenoid just clicks, nice and loud, but the starter doesn't turn. I removed the starter and connected it and it works fine and spins fine. The teeth on the bendix and flywheel are perfect. The starter is a new one with about 500 miles on it. I have put two fully charged batteries and a boost charger on all in parallel but the same thing happens. I have now replaced all the cables and connections and still no go. I have the Haynes manual and traced the wiring as far as I can to see if there are any broken wires or bad connections but only found that the manual's circuit diagrams are crap. They insist there is a starter inhibitor relay where there isn't one.
I was wondering if it is the PATS system playing up. Does the PATS work by somehow inhibiting the starter circuit or does it just work by starving the fuel?
