Master cylinder connected to servo above the starter.
Slaves live in rear drums.

Did you tighten all the brake pipe unions on the new master cylinder?
Fluid must be running from 1 or more of the connections and dripping on the starter.

A pic would help

That's been rolling around in my noodle lately. I am changing to the mk6 4 port master cylinder or possibly an old Mondeo one if it will fit to my brake servo, Ill have the supply for the clutch master ready. Need to get it welded and MOT'd first  Sorry for the hijack :D
