Hi just bought a 1996 mk 5 tranny with squeaky front suspension, any idea how to stop this really anointing noise.

Probably lower ball joints or top shock mounts.

Replacement is the best way, neither are very expensive.

Had the same and it was top mounts easy job to do

If it sounds like its near your foot as above top mount

Lower ball joint.
Do not buy cheap spare becouse they wont last long in this car.
