drop the rack out , the retaining bolts are in the crossmember, you can get angled allen key sockets that make it easier

Referring to your earlier post, why do you need to remove the sump?

Thanks Vanfox , I am removing the sump because i have no oil going over the oil pump engine housing crankshaft case
and alternator
so serious blockage in there somewhere so i want to drop the sump and check for metal bits in bottom of sump or at least look up at the bottom end crank bearings and big end bearings make sure nothing serious and then i need to check the oil galleries and pump feeds and filter ect eg the out pipe to the alternator and back to oil pump housing ?
all so might remove oil pump and check gearing depths ect
making sure no serious damage anywhere
the engine did not sieze just the oil pump pulley sheared off its bolts and pulley went lopsided and alternator belt started to come off
i stopped the engine and went oh SHugar and spice thats not NICE !!!!

then discovered after removing oil pump engine housing no oil had passed through it and looking at the oil feed on the servo of the alternator vacum pump NO oil there either !!! --as my previous post and pics

SO a stupid question what happens when your alternator belt breaks Which effectivly what happened here ?
Does it do damage to the engine ?
would this explain why the oil was sucked dry ?
or am i looking for a Oil return blockage as previous discussed

cheers

Just my idee, just my thoughts!!!

Your waterpump broke down
You kept driving until the pump blocked and the belt broke
Broken belt means no alternator and no waterpump (Danger of overheating)
That's your first problem

Braking up the engine, you detected that the tooth wheels driven the oil pump never received any oil
For this second problem please read my earlier reply in the other/previous topic

For neither of these two problems I would be tempted to take the sump off

Just my idee, just my thoughts

good luck

Ok so update, finaly after buying a 6mm hex key with a tbar handle fits the sump bolts but the handle hits the steering rack
so time to invent grind the tbar handle off and fit to extension socket with long neck
BINGO !!!!! GOT THOSE TWO FFFFF ING BOLTS OUT
sump down and out checked bottom of pan GR* no metal debri
climbed under engine looked up and No damage looks bran new
Now to check oil pipe to pump and filter is not blocked
checked oil filter WOW who the hell put that filter on nearly broke the oil wrench getting off
oil in filter so pump sucking oil so the mystery continues
tmrw check the oil pump and the outlet hoses to alternator
How does oil get delivered to the crankshaft and oil pump housing through the back of pump or through the alternator return ?

cheers

OK, Again just my idee, just my thoughts

This engine must have been recently opened or rebuilt

Look at the photo's... Check the oil pressure hose
The silver braided hose in the pictures
Is she connected with the engine block and with the middle of he vacuümpomp?

To my general knowledge...
Your engine (turbo) will be slightly different as there is also the turbo to oil...
Do not know how things are done at the turbo engine... have no info...
But wherever you put oil in there has to be a way back to the sump.

On the picture, to the right where the pressure hose is connected to the engine block you can see te part that gives info to the oil pressure meter.
This does not cost a fortune and it would give you more info on the lubrication of the engine.

Give us foto of the same spot... remember you have the open engine to look at ...we have to do al the guessing
Hope your next reply to be "good" news...

Good heavens man, take care of yourself,
What if you would have lost that eye...

Personnel reasons, :( I will not be able to follow your progress for a while... :(

I will read it later. :)
For everything you do inside (oily side off the engine) take good care everything is well cleaned before mounting it back together.
Good luck, I will be happy to read you succeeded :D
Cheers

Sorry to hear that, hope it gets better soon, I had a scratch from a bit of brick as I was bolstering back some proud brickwork, it went behind the safety goggles, Not fun. Take care buddy.

ok so update i checked the oil pipe to the alternator from the block at the block------ no oil out into the hose
i checked the vacum pump===== no oil ever in the pump
I checked the return drain hose from the vacum pump to the oil pump engine crank housing ---NO OIL EVER
i checked the oil screen on the pickup to the sump and oil pump not clogged or blocked clean like new
i removed the oil pressure switch---- no oil on it at block
i checked the oil pressure relief valve at block into oil pimp -------Definetly oil there !!!! yeah
i removed oil filter after needing a breaker bar to get it loose ----- Definetly oil there and inside it
i Cant get the oil pump out to check it i have undone all the bolts it wont budge the drive gear spins feely ok on the crankshaft bearing

SO GOING ON THESE FINDINGS i believe the oil pump should be ok and dont bother removing ????
So i am guessing i have a blockage between the oil filter out to the inside feed to the block and the oil gallery passage out to the alternator from the block
So i will try to see if i can poke something down the inside of the passage and clean it out !!!! ANY IDEAS GUYS ???

Cheers
