soundproofing

Postby kennystag » Tue May 23, 2017 3:42 pm

Hi All
Can anyone recommend soundproofing for my mk5 tranny for the cab. Something not too expensive that will quieten the bl**** thing down.
Cheers

SORRY WHAT WAS THAT? SPEAK UP, I CAN'T HEAR YOU? ;)

There's some kind of asphalt matting you can get, it's dead cheap and you just get it on somehow probably with more tar, and it's good at sound deadening (it's the added mass that deadens the sound). This sort of stuff, but you can probably find it cheaper than that (and in larger sheets) if you shop around:

Flashband, applied with a hot air gun or big hairdryer and a small wallpaper roller.

I just bought a roll of 450mm self adhesive roof flashing to do mine, when the time comes :)
