Tire overpressure 215r14

Postby axxez » Sun May 28, 2017 10:32 pm

Hi!

I am actually on the road for a while and got some serious load for that time. My tires are near the specified maximum of 4.5 bars and are still a bit flat. Does anyone have experience with overpressure? My question is if it is better to have tire that is bit flat or to have a not-flat tire that is overpressured. Real life, no laws except the law of russian roads and general physics ;-)

Will have Wifi for some days now but them I am offline, if any further questions.

serious overloading isnt something we do in the uk , youll get more informed advice from the locals where you are.

but i would guess there will be a factor of safety / margin for error in the quoted max pressure.
personally id probably go for higher pressure to stop the sidewalls flexing... depends a bit on state of the road surface, speed and how far youre going.

high speed and a lot of sidewall flexing can result in high temps raising the pressure and blowouts.

... and this is perhaps why we get so many crazy dashcam videos from Russia :D

This advice will come probably to late... sorry
You possibly could upgrade, at least the tires on the back axle.
You could check the load index and see what is for sale on the market
good luck!

Hey Guys,
Just did some 4000 Kilometers on 4.5 Bars and the tires are doing well so far without getting warm. Only thing that gets warm are the wheelbearings, but not that much. I do let them cool down from time to time.
So thanks for the advice!
