window vents

Postby mike En » Wed Jun 07, 2017 10:44 pm

Made some vents for the front windows today, just to pop in at night to let the air circulate.
Saw some available for the new mk8 transits at £60 per side, these cost me less than £4 per side !
Here's a few pics.

Pretty easy to make and hopefully should work well.

Now that's a clever idea. I never thought of that :)

Cheers, not really my idea but just my own knock offs ! Lol. Seemed to work ok, going to drill the holes slightly bigger to let more air through as well, should have bought the ones with he fly screens on really and then I could have just chopped the whole opening out but they where £5 per vent and these where only £3 (plus there was only one fly screen version left in b&q).

Have you made a grove that fits over the glas window? (Tand and grove like woodwork)
That could make it safer, more difficult to pull it out...
Nowadays....

No, this was just a quick prototype made in 30mins the day before we went away lol.
Was planning on making some more out of thicker material and run the router around it make a thinner lip that fits on the window rubber around the top and sides. And then a channel in the bottom for the window to sit inside.

Found out this morning when I woke up at Lymm services (my fave stopoff on the way back ... about halfway, cheap parking and has a bar :D) that ventillation isn't a problem with my van. It was bloody freezing because it had got a bit windy!
