Normally use 1ml of acetone/litre of derv and "about" 300ml of 2 T/ tank (adjust amount of 2T if your'e putting £20-£30 in at a time)

Some say you can't "over do it" with 2 stroke.
Iv'e never had any problems guessing the amount.

It helps quieten and lubricate the pump (modern fuels have less of the older fuel system friendly addatives)

The 2T i use comes from Smith and Allen (use the same oil in chainsaw/strimmer/hedge trimmer)

The idea is a good one. Modern diesel fuels have reduced sulphur so supposedly lacking in "lubricant". Adding a sensible amount of any 2-T oil will compensate and the noise from the pump, etc. is certainly reduced. I have been using it for years along with a shot of acetone with good results. I add 1ml to every 3 litres of diesel and I am convinced it helps the mpg a bit. I did some research on the net about adding acetone to diesel and it is said that it somehow works to make the fuel burn more completely, therefore a benefit to power & emissions.
My lwb high top with a full load can return 36mpg on a motorway run so it certainly does no harm.
