Right epic pump for engine

Hello all having a few issues again with me epic fitted a new secondhand pump with dsa number for year of van started grate after and ran ok tested next day we was a bit kageroory at times n cut out but fired straight away again. Just found out it had a newer engine fitted by a previous owner so now asking my self if iv fitted wrong pump any one now how to find out year off engine or is it done by ecu

DCU will have for eg; 94VB or 98VB and what pump numbers did you have and now have
