Mk5 clocks

Postby gavcarter » Mon Jul 17, 2017 1:05 pm

Plenty of info on here using the search, however it's all scattered about and not very concise.....
I have a 2.5td 2000 build, manual pump.
Assuming I have a W feed on the alternator which Mondeo clocks can I use?
Is it Mk2 petrol or diesel?
Ideally I want a rev counter. I THINK I can swap out the fuel gauges so it reads normally.
What kids are needed to get the rpm working? Is it a simple feed from alternator or do I need to modify the Mondeo clocks?
Any help appreciated, thanks

I doubt if there is a way you can tell. With mine all you have to do is fit a switch in the wire that goes between the gearbox and the speedo. The only trouble is you lose the speedo along with the odometer.

Has there ever been a rev counter dash with a cable, not electric, speedo?

Alternatively, has anyone got an electric speedo drive unit, the bit in the gearbox, on the shelf and £?.

There is a Mk5 one with rev counter, and a cable driven speedo, I have one somewhere that I never fitted to my Mk5  :P
I think that the early non-digital Mk6 clocks were the same, but that may be just hearsay
