Carb removal query - mk3

Postby dajome » Wed Aug 02, 2017 12:00 pm

I have a 1987 mk3 motor home with a 2 litre pinto and the old vv carb. The carb needs to come off for a refurb but I can't seem to get to the nut on the rear stud. You can't really see round the back so a lot of it is by touch and the throttle linkage gets in the way of easy spanner access. Any suggestions?

Ok, quick update - I have found a very cheap old vv carb, same type but different code stamp, which I was able to see exactly where the stud hole is and try various spanners to get to the stud - finally managed it with a 13mm box spanner. Now it's off I can see how gunged up the main chamber is. I've also got new diaphragms for it and am ready to strip, clean and rebuild. I hope I can remember how to reassemble it back onto the engine with all the various connections!!
